Le complexe culturel Les Grands Arbres a abrité samedi 1er décembre 2018 une rencontre littéraire intéressante organisée par l’Association OCCAD.
Dans une ambiance conviviale et empreinte d’écoute et de partage, les intervenants ont présenté, au bonheur d’un public aussi varié qu’intéressé, composé d’enseignants, de jeunes étudiants, d’universitaires et de lecteurs, des approches différentes, contrastées mais complémentaires autour du roman Une Enfance métissée d’Abdallah Alaoui.
Abdelmajid Mekayssi, de la faculté des lettres et des sciences humaines de Rabat, s’est penché sur la thématique de l’entre-deux dans le roman, entre conciliation et dangers. Les frontières sont différemment représentées. La frontière en tant qu’obstacle à surmonter pour aller vers l’autre ou pour s’en protéger est une ligne de l’entre-deux qui devient ainsi un moyen de passage dangereux mais indispensable. Entre identité et altérité certes mais aussi entre les différentes expressions et formes littéraires, la frontière, franche ou ténue, est toujours présente. L’expression « à l’aube », dans le sous-titre du roman, annonce le jour de l’Indépendance après la nuit de la colonisation. Cette frontière est conçue dans le sens d’un commencement mais c’est aussi une fin. Les « horizons nouveaux » laissent transparaitre une lueur, une vue neuve mais c’est aussi un entre-deux géographique, spatial et temporel.
La solitude et l’altérité, par ailleurs, renforcent ces frontières en mettant en vis-à-vis deux situations contradictoires, en, apparence, car plus complémentaires qu’exclusives.
Alain Joseph Sissao et Sandrine Bouda Kientega, chercheurs du Burkina Faso ont articulé leur lecture du roman autour de trois axes : l’identité, l’altérité, la diversité et la tolérance.
L’identité est manifeste à travers le mariage. En effet, le mariage arrangé sur l’accord de deux familles caractérise le Maroc. L’union de Mokhtar et Hayat en est une illustration. Le marocain se définit aussi par son courage et son ardeur au travail. D’apprenti maçon à Fès-Djedid, Mokhtar s’est battu pour améliorer ses conditions de vie familiale en Ville Nouvelle. Également, le Maroc protectorat s’identifie à la négritude senghorienne et sa Civilisation de l’Universel à travers Mokhtar qui ressemble à la Grande Royale dans L’aventure ambiguë. Il refuse l’assimilation coloniale en assimilant d’abord sa propre culture et adopte ensuite du colon, ce qui est utile.
L’altérité est l’acceptation de l’autre à travers la différence la découverte de nouveaux horizons est sensible chez le petit Adam. Une fois hors du sous-sol, il découvrira l’univers du haut, différent du sien ; il connaitra le corps féminin et ses sensations ; fréquentera l’école, sera témoins de violences et même de la mort.
La diversité et tolérance sont perceptibles avec la cohabitation des nationalités : les autochtones marocains et les étrangers français, juifs, bretons et italiens. La culture marocaine, fondée sur l’apprentissage de la langue arabe et du coran s’affiche en présence de celle française, sans oublier la diversité des quartiers qui habitent ces groupes sociaux. Malgré cette diversité, la tolérance règne.
Dans ce roman, le Maroc colonial a une identité sociale nationale et africaine affirmées. Malgré les diverses réalités auxquelles le pays est confronté ses habitants vivent dans l’indulgence.
Naima Mennour, de la faculté des lettres et des sciences humaines de Casablanca a présenté une communication intitulée : Une enfance métissée ou l’esthétique d’une écriture du métissage.
Dans son Enfance métissée, Abdallah Mdarhri nous fait découvrir le récit de l’histoire de l’enfant Adam dont la vie est constamment partagée entre deux cultures, vers la fin de la période du protectorat français au Maroc. Par-delà cette histoire, l’écriture romanesque, se révèle de bout en bout pétrie par la notion du métissage, elle se précise comme étant l’eidos qui nous dévoile le sens de cette démarche d’écriture. Le métissage est peut-être ici moins une forme d’écriture qu’une façon de penser le monde, ou mieux encore, une charge ontologique
Mohamed Bahi, de la faculté des lettres et des sciences humaines de Béni Mellal a souligné, dans sa communication, qu’Une Enfance métissée met en mouvement deux personnages Rahma et Mokhtar, deux orphelins qui ont dû quitter successivement Errachida, ville natale, pour Fès. Après des années au quartier Fès Djedid, Rahma s’installe avec son mari à Rabat. Mokhtar et sa femme, Hayat, s’installent dans la ville Nouvelle de Fès (Ville européenne). Chaque passage de ce dernier couple d’un espace à un autre est vécu comme un exil au pluriel. Ce déménagement met ce couple en contact des familles, des personnages, des communautés : Bien des exils à vivre et des frontières à traverser.
Az-zeddine Nozhi, de la faculté des lettres et des sciences humaines de Béni Mellal également, a proposé une interprétation basée sur des réseaux intertextuels, initiés par des références, des gestes ou des actions. Il s’est interrogé sur la signification du nom du personnage principal « Adam » et l’a relié à des considérations mythologiques et religieuses.
Le chercheur n’a pas manqué non plus de relever la situation de l’entre-deux où évolue le personnage ainsi que son élan vers l’autre. La différence entre les deux mondes, le haut et le bas, devient doublement pesante ; elle est géométrique et chromatique. C’est le bas contre le haut et la lumière contre l’obscurité. Adam se situe déjà dans l’entre-deux. Il est tenté par cet autre monde différent mais séduisant.
Quant à Saoud Houssa qui a pris la parole à la fin, il a livré des impressions à chaud sur sa lecture du roman d’une finesse et d’une pertinence remarquables. Il a savamment disséqué le roman sous le thème de l’urgence. L’écriture, à un certain âge, oblige l’auteur à vouloir tout dire, à se mettre plutôt dans la perspective du bilan et non celle du projet. C’est là, une idée à méditer à propos de la portée symbolique et psychologique de l’écriture du moi ou de l’écriture en général.
Abdallah Mdarhri Alaoui, l’auteur d’Une Enfance métissée, à l’aube du Maroc nouveau, a pris la parole en dernier pour réagir aux différentes interventions et, surtout, pour donner sa vision personnelle sur la création romanesque et sur les contraintes et exigences de cet exercice. Sa motivation, à lui, était d’abord de dire ce qu’il a toujours pensé et qu’il n’a jamais eu l’occasion de révéler au public, vu ses obligations familiales et professionnelles. L’autre raison, plus objective cette fois-ci, est qu’il a remarqué, à travers ses lectures et ses travaux sur la littérature maghrébine que cette période, à savoir les années d’après la seconde guerre mondiale et jusqu’à l’Indépendance du Maroc en passant par la Révolution du roi et du peuple, n’a été guère à l’honneur sous la plume des écrivains maghrébins. C’est justement cette période qui correspond à l’enfance du personnage principal. L’auteur n’a pas tout dit certes, mais cette expérience romanesque lui a permis de dire certaines choses d’après le ressenti qu’il garde de ce qu’il a vu ou vécu, et qu’il partage avec son lecteur. N’est-ce pas là, d’ailleurs, le propre de la littérature ?
De l’interculturel à la psychocritique, de la mythocritique à la narratologie, du roman à la poésie en passant par la musique, les différentes analyses ainsi que les interventions du public ont été d’une grande qualité et d’une remarquable finesse.
Tous les participants, intervenants et public, ont relevé, à raison, la richesse et la diversité des lectures qui ont permis de tracer des orientations ou des voies de recherche concernant Une Enfance métissée ou tout autre roman. Tous ont émis le vœu de faire publier ces communications et aussi de voir multiplier les rencontres de ce genre dans le complexe Les Grands Arbres, lieu accueillant et propice à l’échange et au partage culturels, sous la supervision de la magnifique Judith Seres.
